Children at Saxton CE Primary School have been awarded Green Flag status.
To be awarded the status by Eco Schools, children have to undertake an environmental review, produce an action plan in three key areas, deliver improvements, and promote an Eco Code throughout the school.
At Saxton, this was led by the Eco Warriors committee who developed actions relating to energy, litter, and marine life.
They ran an anti-littering poster campaign, tracked energy usage every week, and held a ‘Big Blue Day’ to promote awareness of the impact that single-use plastics have on our oceans.
Executive Headteacher, Mr Rick Weights, said: “I am incredibly proud of what our children have achieved. They are responsible environmental citizens and have shown that even in a small school we are able to make a big difference to the world around us.”
