A family and friends running group who call themselves “Run Forrest Run” laced up their running shoes and joined another 400 others to take on the Escrick 10k run recently.
Six members of the group took to the streets of Escrick on Sunday, August 22 to run the flat, scenic, multi-terrain course. Starting and finishing on the village green, there were plenty of facilities and food and drinks provided by an army of volunteers and race organisers. A spokesperson for the Run Forrest Run group said: “Fortunately, the previous day’s rain had not created any problems on the route and conditions were perfect for running, albeit a little warm. “The Escrick 10k run is a very popular event and attracts some serious runners, with clubs throughout Yorkshire being represented.
The prize-winning chap finished in a very impressive 33.46 minutes and the first lady in 41.34 minutes.” They added: “All six of the “Run Forrest Run” group enjoyed the race, Richard Williams was first over the line, finishing in an impressive time of 51.50, Dave Queenan was next in 58.33, closely followed by 10k debutant Louise Williams in just over the hour at 1.01. “Will Hawe and Chris Powell were next over the timing mat in 1.02. and Kelvin Hawe was the final member to complete the run in an impressive time of 1.09 despite a lack of recent training.” The group are not stopping there and are set to take on the Leeds half marathon in the coming weeks as well as a number of arranged events throughout Yorkshire.
