Work has begun on a £48 million development that will see 150 new homes built in Sherburn in Elmet.
Construction company Avant Homes says it will transform 18 acres of land just off Hodgsons Lane into a development of mix of three, four and five-bedroomed homes this year. Named Bishop’s Quarter, the area will feature 14 of Avant Homes’ house types, with prices ranging from £289,995 for a three-bedroomed semi-detached property to £549,995 for a five-bedroomed detached home. North Yorkshire director of Avant Homes, Matt Oldfield, said: “We always knew Bishop’s Quarter would prove to be extremely popular. “Sherburn in Elmet is a great place to live with both excellent amenities and straightforward access to Selby, Tadcaster, Leeds and York.”
The company says it has already sold 15 properties ahead of work starting on the site. It added that of the 150 homes being built, 40 per cent have been designated to affordable housing, with the company also having pledged over £600,000 to support local highways, infrastructure, a waste and recycling contribution and a travel plan. Matt said: “Bishop’s Quarter will be another great example of us delivering on our promises of providing quality new homes for everyone and creating vibrant communities wherever we build.”
